Let's talk about the role

As the Head of Technical Accounting & Administration (TA&A) for the Shared Business Platform operations you will lead and oversee the global shared business platform responsible for delivering high-quality technical accounting and administration (TA&A) services in P&C insurance. This role ensures operational excellence, strategic alignment, and seamless service delivery to local heads across regions.

What will you do?

  • Lead and mange teams delivering technical accounting and administrative services across the shared platform.
  • Ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly and within agreed service levels with regional TA&A including:
  • Entering risk and policy data into the Underwriting system(s) within SLAs
  • Undertaking peer-to-peer quality checks
  • Responding to risk and policy queries in a timely manner.
  • Processing unmatched USMs and escalating any issues through the appropriate channels.
  • Overseeing credit control process, ensuring aged debt and excess cash queries are dealt with promptly
  • Develop and implement the accounting department's goals, objectives, and strategies in line with company and TA&A vision.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting for the region and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assess and mitigate risks implementing appropriate internal controls and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regional accounting regulations, standards, and internal policies.
  • Guide and support managers in the region, foster collaboration.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, addressing findings or recommendations.
  • Review key metrics, identify trends and recommend processes improvements.
  • Manage and mentor staff and develop a strong technical accounting & administration team with focus on building up a solid talent pipeline.
  • Monitor departmental costs and budget.

What are we looking for?

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years in the financial services industry, preferably in insurance and / or reinsurance.
  • At least 5 years' experience managing large teams with diverse cultural, language, and professional backgrounds.
  • Solid background in P&C technical reinsurance and direct accounting & administration.
  • Skilled in interpersonal, intercultural, and interdisciplinary communication and coordination.
  • Strong project management skills and experience.

Technical & Professional Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting regulations, as well as experience with complex accounting issues and transactions.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex accounting concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail when reviewing financial statements and reports.

Leadership & Management:

  • Proven ability to inspire, mentor, and guide teams toward achieving goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address accounting issues effectively and proactively.
  • Builds positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Your Background

  • Commercial education and training in the financial services industry, preferably in insurance and/or reinsurance.
  • Financial and / or accounting education and training.
  • Project management education.
