Job Summary

Takida Terminal is seeking a highly experienced Chief Accountant to lead and oversee all accounting and financial reporting activities within the petrochemical industry. The role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with Romanian accounting standards, tax legislation, and industry-specific regulations, while providing accurate financial information to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Record, classify, and reconcile all accounting transactions in accordance with Romanian accounting standards and IFRS (where applicable)

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Maintain general ledger, trial balances, and supporting documentation

• Ensure accurate accounting of inventory (fuels, petrochemical products, additives, losses, gains)

• Prepare and approve statutory financial statements in accordance with Romanian accounting standards

• Ensure compliance with IFRS reporting requirements (if applicable)

• Provide financial reports, analyses, and management dashboards

• Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for all financial activities

Taxation & Regulatory Compliance

• Oversee preparation and submission of all tax returns (VAT, corporate income tax, withholding taxes)

• Manage excise duty accounting and reporting where applicable to petrochemical products

• Ensure compliance with fiscal, customs, and industry-specific regulations

• Monitor legislative changes and implement required updates

Cost Control & Industrial Accounting

• Oversee cost accounting for terminal operations (storage, loading/unloading, utilities, maintenance)

• Analyze operational costs and profitability by service, client, and product

• Supervise inventory accounting for fuels and petrochemical products, including losses and gains

Cash Flow & Risk Management

• Oversee cash flow planning, banking relationships, and payment approvals

• Manage credit risk, receivables, and supplier obligations

• Ensure compliance with internal approval limits

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Manage supplier invoices, payments, and reconciliations

• Monitor customer invoicing, collections, and credit control

• Reconcile bank accounts and cash flow movements

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics

• Certified Accountant qualification (CECCAR) – mandatory

• ACCA or similar international certification is an advantage

Experience

• At least 3–5 years in a Chief Accountant or senior accounting role

• Experience in petrochemical, oil & gas, industrial manufacturing, energy, or logistics is strongly preferred and represents an advantage

• Proven experience managing audits and regulatory inspections

Skills & Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of Romanian accounting and fiscal legislation

• Strong understanding of excise duties and inventory accounting

• Leadership and team management skills

• Advanced Excel and accounting/ERP system proficiency - we are using NextUp
