We are supporting a national company in the agribusiness sector in recruiting a
Head of Accounting
. The role is essential for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of all financial and accounting operations within the organization.

The Head of Accounting will coordinate the financial-accounting team, oversee statutory reporting, ensure compliance with fiscal legislation, and support the Financial Manager in all core activities. This is a key position that requires strong technical expertise, ownership, and the ability to manage end-to-end accounting processes in a dynamic operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise the financial-accounting team at headquarters and across operational locations.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all accounting records (purchases, sales, treasury, fixed assets, inventories, provisions, etc.).
  • Manage monthly and annual closing processes and validate trial balances, reconciliations, and financial notes.
  • Prepare and submit statutory declarations in accordance with Romanian fiscal requirements.
  • Ensure the timely preparation of financial statements and support statutory audits.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with fiscal authorities, auditors, consultants, and other external stakeholders.
  • Organize and supervise inventory processes and ensure proper reflection of results in accounting records.
  • Implement and enforce accounting procedures, internal controls, and compliance standards.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in collaboration with the Financial Manager.
  • Provide information and reports required by management and other internal departments.
  • Replace the Financial Manager when necessary to ensure continuity of financial operations.

Requirements

  • University degree in Economics or Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as
    Chief Accountant / Head of Accounting
    or a similar senior accounting role.
  • Extensive knowledge of Romanian accounting and fiscal legislation.
  • Strong experience in coordinating accounting teams and managing full accounting cycles.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel).
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Charisma/Navision/SAGA or similar).
  • Advanced English skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work under deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Reliability, integrity, and a proactive approach to resolving accounting and fiscal issues.
