Database Administrator

Purpose of Position
We're looking for a passionate and skilled MySQL Database Administrator to join our distributed Database Administration team. As a key member of the DevOps org, you'll be working on critical infrastructure supporting over 100 relational MySQL/MariaDB databases across both on-prem and AWS environments.

Key Tasks

• Administer, maintain and optimise MySQL/MariaDB databases on Linux (Debian) systems
• Implement updates, upgrades and continuously improve performance and reliability
• Analyse and resolve incidents, focusing on long-term strategic fixes
• Partner with developers to improve SQL performance and query tuning
• Contribute to our journey to the cloud (AWS) while managing the hybrid environment
• Drive automation and take ownership of database improvement projects

Skills & Expertise

• 2+ years hands-on experience as a MySQL DBA
• Solid understanding of performance tuning, backups, high availability, and SQL optimization
• Strong Linux skills, ideally Debian, and an affinity for open-source tooling
• Familiarity with scripting in Bash or Python and config management via Chef
• Bonus points for experience with AWS RDS, Terraform, or cloud migration projects
• Analytical mindset, independent drive, and excellent communication in English
