Who we are

By joining our project, you will be working on an initiative of the European Commission focused on creating a more efficient, modern and secure customs environment within the European Union. Being part of this initiative set on a 5 years' timeline, you will have the opportunity to work on topics such as digitalization of customs processes, streamlining customs procedures to facilitate trade and reduce costs, harmonization of customs rules across all EU member states and combating fraud.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the operation, administration, and integration of monitoring solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, MS SCOM, Nagios, Icinga, or similar tools.
  • Collaborating with operations teams, developers, and stakeholders to define monitoring requirements.
  • Analyzing and implementing enhancements or fixes to monitoring infrastructure in response to business needs.
  • Providing administrative support for monitoring tool configuration and optimization.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation and standard operating procedures for monitoring systems.
  • Ensuring proactive incident detection, root cause analysis, and performance optimization through monitoring solutions.
  • Mentoring and guiding the monitoring team, ensuring best practices and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring along

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (A Master's degree or MBA is preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in monitoring administration or similar roles.
  • Proven expertise in the implementation and administration of enterprise monitoring solutions.
  • Strong understanding of event management and alerting strategies.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix systems (Windows knowledge is a plus).
  • Scripting skills in Python, Shell (ksh, bash), or PowerShell.
  • Hands-on experience with Nagios or Icinga.
  • Solid understanding of network fundamentals and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes (ITIL certification is a plus).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and in a team.
  • Experience in DevOps environments and Continuous Deployment practices.
  • Familiarity with VMware vROps or similar infrastructure monitoring platforms.
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English (any other European language would be a plus).
