About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee all construction phase activities for our solar and battery (BESS) projects in Romania. This role manages EPC contractor relations, ensures regulatory compliance, coordinates with lenders' and owner's engineers, and supervises all technical, contractual, and safety aspects from groundbreaking through commissioning and handover to operations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & EPC Management:

·      Lead EPC contractor relations and chair weekly construction progress meetings

·      Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor schedule, quality, and safety compliance

·      Coordinate owner's engineer, site supervisor  and H&S coordinator

·      Track milestones and critical path activities

·      Manage acceptance processes with stakeholders

Regulatory & Compliance:

·      Ensure compliance with Romanian and EU regulations

·      Coordinate with DSO/TSO, ANRE, authorities, and internal grid team

·      Monitor grid connection agreements, construction permits, and license validity

Technical & Quality Assurance:

·      Supervise testing and commissioning

·      Monitor Performance Ratio and Capacity guarantees

·      Coordinate with technical experts for verification and claims management

Financial & Lender Relations:

·      Coordinate with Lender's Engineer on technical monitoring, invoices, and drawdown certificates

·      Prepare weekly progress reports for management, shareholders, and lenders

·      Verify invoices against construction progress and budget

·      Ensure compliance with financing covenants and report on milestone achievements

Contract & Documentation:

·      Support negotiation of EPC, O&M, and service provider contracts

·      Monitor SPV obligations, deadlines, and conditions precedent

·      Ensure document management system implementation and data security

Required Qualifications

Education & Certifications:

·      Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Energy Engineering)

Experience:

·      Minimum 5 years experience in construction management - experience in renewable energy sector a plus

·      Proven track record with solar PV projects and BESS experience highly desirable

·      Hands-on experience managing EPC contractors from contract execution through commissioning

Technical Knowledge:

·      Understanding of solar PV plant design, construction, and commissioning

·      Knowledge of BESS systems, grid integration, substations, and MV/HV infrastructure

·      Knowledge of H&S regulations, environmental compliance, and construction law

·      Understanding of EPC contracts, equipment warranties, performance guarantees, and insurance

Languages:

·      Fluent in English (written and spoken) - desirable

·      Fluent in Romanian (native or near-native) - mandatory

Other:

·      Valid driver's license for regular site visits

·      Willingness to travel to construction site locations
