Responsibility

We are seeking an experienced Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accounting Specialist to own the collection of energy data, and calculate, analyze, and report greenhouse gas emissions across our operations and value chain. This person will play a vital role in shaping the company's decarbonization strategies by maintaining accurate, properly documented, science-based emissions inventories aligned with regulatory and voluntary frameworks, such as the GHG Protocol and Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GHG accounting and data management, an understanding of the GHG Protocol, and a passion for sustainability.

Duties

1) Own, maintain, and enhance systems (e.g., climate software, backup manual process) for calculating emissions using appropriate emission factors and methodologies

2) Calculate GHG inventories covering Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, including any new GHG Protocol developments, such as FLAG emissions

3) Identify and validate appropriate emissions sources, data sources, and energy data; identify data discrepancies and partner with subject matter experts to correct

4) In collaboration with the ESG Data Governance Specialist and Finance, work to:

  • Ensure accurate reporting—at a global, entity, country, or facility level—in accordance with the appropriate framework (e.g., GHG Protocol, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), ISSB, SBTi) and aligned with global accounting

  • Secure proper documentation and approvals

  • Respond quickly to internal and external audit findings, making improvements

  • Gain third-party assurance by ensuring policies, management assertions, calculations, and documentation are accurate and up to date

5) Prepare annual, quarterly, and ad-hoc energy and emissions reports, requested by internal and external stakeholders, in accordance with the GHG Protocol and global accounting. Support lifecycle assessments (LCAs) and product-level emissions analyses. Prepare reports and modeling to inform global and local strategies for decarbonization.
