About Flutter Functions
The Flutter Functions division is a key component of Flutter Entertainment, responsible for providing essential support and services across the organization. The division encompasses various corporate functions, including finance, legal, human resources, technology, and more, ensuring seamless operations and strategic alignment throughout the company.

Role Overview
You are enthusiastic, motivated and willing to make your mark. You have engineering skills and a passion for technology. You have extensive experience with technologies such as Java, http, event streaming (Kafka) and build tools (e.g. Maven). You have used dependency injection and inversion of control in previous projects.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software solutions in accordance with open source & co-creation models
• Ensure adherence to community standards and collaborative development practices.
• Have good knowledge of secure coding and ensure adherence to good coding practices
• Understand the dependencies between components and how they combine to deliver service to the consumer and business
• Easily recognise system deficiencies and implement effective solutions
• Suggest alternative methodologies that may be more efficient and actively improve the tooling used
• Be able to identify common concerns to encourage code reuse
• Be familiar with multiple software development methodologies and actively contribute to team and group meetings
• Minimise manual processes and provide automated solutions

Software Development, Continuous Improvement And QA For Developers

• Be able to guide the team on the best approach to large pieces of work which span multiple components and teams
• Tackle tasks by researching and weighing up the pros and cons of various routes to select the right approach
• Be an expert in your primary programming language, and be competent in others
• Implement robust solutions that work across multiple channels, platforms and browsers
• Evaluate the impact of changes and guide improvements to your function, area or product
• Use your experience to lead reviews of changes
• Actively generate several alternative solutions to problems
• Periodically review stats and adjust system capabilities accordingly
• Identify areas of technical risk across the department and communicate it to the relevant delivery managers and architects
• Drive QA best practice across multiple components and projects, to ensure that changes do not happen unwantedly
• Align development tasks with business priorities, effectively communicating delivery timelines and proactively managing expectations to ensure successful project delivery.

Architecture For Developers

• Be a business and tech expert who can guide the team on the best approach for large pieces of work which span multiple components
• Model high complexity problems - always considering load capacity, system reliability and availability
• Encourage appropriate use of reusability techniques (e.g. design patterns, library extraction, new component creation)
• Support and mentor junior colleagues

Incident Management

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of applications and the implications of making changes to them
• Look out for potential problems to avoid incidents and take ownership of issues
• Be able to debug the applications you own and actively pursue root cause analysis
• Make sure that recurrence of incidents is minimised by applying appropriate immediate actions as well as long-term solutions

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required

• This position involves working with and being part of a cross-skilled development team and will have regular contact with teams looking after other aspects of our products & tools.
• This role necessitates collaboration with engineers from various cultural and professional backgrounds. Strong interpersonal skills, including understanding different perspectives and cultural and situational awareness are highly valued for effectively navigating cross-functional interactions and fostering productive working relationships.
