Managing Director

We are looking for a visionary and results-driven
Managing Director
to lead our client company's operations in the renewable energy sector, with a strong focus on international solar projects. The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership, ensuring the successful delivery of large-scale projects, while driving sustainable growth and strengthening market position. The new Managing Director will represent the company to businesses and stakeholders in Romania.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Organizational Development

• Lead the overall development of the company and design, implement, and monitor short-mid-and long-term business strategies.
• Develop and manage the executive team to support company goals.
• Provide regular reports to the Board of Directors/Stakeholders on company performance and propose strategic initiatives.
• Represent the company with business partners, investors, authorities, and other key stakeholders, strengthening its market position and reputation.

Project Management

• Ensure that construction projects (with a focus on utility-scale solar) are delivered on time, on budget, and at the agreed quality standards.
• Supervise the entire project lifecycle: planning, procurement, execution, commissioning, and handover.
• Supervise all aspects of project execution, from planning and procurement to commissioning.
• Monitor project progress and implement corrective measures to achieve schedule, cost, and quality objectives.

Resource & Team Coordination

• Ensure compliance with contracts, health & safety requirements and environmental standards.
• Oversee workforce planning and ensure the optimal allocation of human resources across projects.
• Develop and lead the executive management team to align with company goals.
• Promote a performance-driven organizational culture based on collaboration, accountability, and excellence.

Financial & Operational Management

• Take full P&L ownership, focusing on cost control, profitability, and sustainable growth.
• Review and validate project budgets from both technical and financial perspectives.
• Implement and monitor policies for forecasting, margin control, and risk management.

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure strict adherence to contracts, health & safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Oversee compliance with all applicable legal and industry standards in solar construction.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or Construction Management; a master's degree or MBA is a strong plus.
• Minimum 10 years of executive leadership experience, with at least 5 years in the construction sector, preferably in renewable energy or large-scale infrastructure.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering utility-scale solar construction projects on time and within budget.
• Full P&L responsibility in a mid-sized or larger organization (ideally €15M+ annual revenue).
• Strong experience in resource planning and cross-checking project budgets from both technical and financial perspectives.
• In-depth knowledge of solar construction processes, cost structures, and industry best practices.
• Advanced financial and analytical skills, with a solid grasp of forecasting, margin control, and risk management.
• Decisive and pragmatic leadership style with a hands-on approach to operations.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in Romanian and English (written and spoken).
