We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic HR Director to lead the entire People & Culture agenda for our rapidly expanding Romanian operations (600+ employees).

Key Responsibilities

As the Romania HR Director, you will report directly to the local Managing Director and be responsible for defining and executing the long-term People Strategy in Romania.

Strategic Leadership & Governance:

  • Develop, define, and execute the comprehensive People Strategy for the entire Romanian operation, ensuring robust alignment with global Visma standards and local business objectives.
  • Act as the primary HR strategic partner and trusted advisor to the Managing Director and local Executive leadership team.
  • Provide direction and governance across the full spectrum of HR activities: Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partnering, Learning & Development, Compensation & Benefits, Administration and Payroll
  • Direct the HR team fostering a culture of operational excellence, professional growth, and strategic consistency.
  • Drive together with Business and Visma Romania AI officer the AI upskilling program
  • Implement agentic AI solutions within HR department

  • Cultivate a culture of strong internal collaboration, facilitating seamless communication and partnership between HR team, partners, employees, other functions ( local and global ones) to achieve shared objectives.

  • Establish and nurture highly effective strategic relationships with key internal global clients and stakeholders, including Visma Group HR, ensuring HR service delivery meets international standards.
  • Bring extensive experience influencing global executive teams, ensuring people strategy is tightly integrated with growth and operational goals.
  • Leverage deep experience operating in complex matrix organizations across international units to ensure alignment, influence and execution across distributed teams.

Organizational Development & Transformation:

  • Champion large-scale organizational development and cultural initiatives, driving high performance and sustained employee engagement across all locations.
  • Spearhead the design and execution of both local and global upskilling programs and talent development pipelines, ensuring our workforce is future-ready and adaptable to technological change.
  • Lead the internal charge for digital transformation within the HR function, specifically leveraging proven AI and automation solutions to optimize processes and enhance data-driven decision-making, while contributing to global automation initiatives.
  • Define, track, and present core HR metrics, KPIs, and strategic reports to the Executive team and Visma Group HR, informing high-level business decisions.
  • Drive robust succession planning strategies and leadership development programs to ensure sustainable, future-ready talent pipelines.
  • Design and deploy leadership development ecosystems with a strong focus on senior capability building and culture stewardship.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years in senior HR leadership roles, including international responsibility in matrix organizational structures.
  • At least 3 years experience in a HR Director role, leading the end-to-end HR function for a company/division with a headcount of more than 500 employees in international environments.
  • Proven experience navigating and leading HR initiatives within a complex, multi-national or global matrix environment, with a strong emphasis on cross-functional collaboration.
  • Extensive, hands-on, and strategic knowledge across the full HR lifecycle
  • Proven track record of driving HR strategy with a focus on leveraging AI-driven solutions and automation to optimize processes and deliver quantifiable business impact.
  • Exceptional leadership, change management, and team development skills, with previous experience overseeing and mentoring senior HR Leads or Managers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and make critical decisions very independently, with strong influencing skills across all levels of the organization and multicultural environments.
  • Demonstrated success driving HR transformation and culture change, including centralization projects, EVP evolution and operating model redesign.

  • Previous participation in Boards and global executive committees

  • Min 3 days/week presence in the office is required.
  • Availability to travel across 3 locations up to 20%/month.
  • Fluency in Romanian and English is essential.
