A leading German company in autonomous electric vehicles and warehouse automation solutions is expanding its embedded software team in Romania, directly at its manufacturing site in Ploiesti.

The new on-site team will be responsible for the architecture and software development that controls the physical equipment produced locally: AGVs, electric forklifts, lifting systems, and automated transport platforms.

The role of Embedded Tech Lead involves technical leadership, software architecture design, and direct contribution to the codebase, in close collaboration with both local and international development teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the software architecture for embedded systems (layers, modules, interfaces)
  • Provide technical leadership to the development team: priorities, code reviews, standards
  • Contribute directly to subsystem development in C / C++ on embedded Linux
  • Collaborate with System Engineers to align requirements and architecture
  • Participate in Agile planning, provide technical support and mentoring
  • Ensure the deliverability and scalability of the developed software solutions

Candidate profile:

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded software development, with at least 2–3 years in a lead or technical architect role
  • Hands-on expertise in embedded Linux, C/C++, device drivers, hardware-related subsystems
  • Proven experience in defining software architecture for distributed or autonomous systems
  • Practical experience working in Agile environments (sprint planning, ownership, code reviews, team velocity)
  • Strong communication and coordination skills – able to represent the local technical direction
  • Fluent English (written and spoken); German is a plus
