As a Lead Software Engineer, you will join our rapidly growing Engineering team focused on machine learning to help us realise a future where Humans and AI work together to solve the world's most important problems.

Responsibilities:

  • You'll share your days with teams of talented software engineers, scientists, designers, and product specialists. You will take ideas from concept to production together, making elegant and maintainable solutions to complex data-centric problems. What you build will have a real and positive impact on society, the defence of the realm, and the individual lives of people across the globe.
  • As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be at the heart of the engineering effort that enables the delivery of state-of-the-art AI/ML in diverse projects, from signal processing to geospatial data modelling to image processing and high-fidelity simulations of physical systems.
  • You will work with users on new features, rapidly prototyping, exploring and validating ideas, and designing and developing features for scalable, secure, and observable large distributed systems, both on-premise and in the cloud.
  • As a technical lead, you'll be guiding design decisions and ensuring alignment across the team.
  • You'll help scale engineering processes for reliability and quality, while mentoring and coaching colleagues to support their career growth and wellbeing. Over time, you'll gradually take on broader leadership responsibilities, including people development, performance reviews, and feedback.

Requirements:

Essential

  • 8+ years of commercial software experience
  • Be an expert in at least one high-level programming language with familiarity with a range of others, such as Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience deploying ML in production or commercial applications.
  • Experience with Helm, Flux, Kubernetes, and Python Machine Learning
  • Experience architecting and designing complex distributed software systems for the cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Experience as a technical lead working in an iterative Agile environment.
  • A good understanding of the DevOps movement, its tools and its culture.
  • Worked closely with users, determining what to build and why, and have experience working closely with clients and representing technical expertise in discussions with other experts.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with other technologies in our stack like Kubeflow, AWS
