Your new role and environment.

The Azure Data Platform (ADP) team oversees the design, development, and operation of the regional Azure Data Platform, supporting local businesses, brands, and IT teams in deriving value from their data assets.

Recently, ADP has undergone a major transformation, shifting from a centralized data processing role focused on building dashboards to a comprehensive Cloud Data Platform. This evolution empowers multiple customers to create Data Products in a self-service manner, ensuring faster delivery times, cost efficiency, enhanced security, robust governance, and an improved developer experience.

The platform serves Belgium, Central, and Southeastern Europe, managing the delivery and operation of the regional platform and solutions (Data Products). It supports diverse business use cases, including Loyalty & Personalization, Data Monetization, Reporting & Dashboarding, Data Science & Analytics, and cutting-edge (Gen)AI applications.

Our mission is to provide internal customers with a strong platform foundation and capabilities to accelerate the development of valuable, high-quality data use cases.

The Data & AI Solution Architect plays a pivotal role in designing robust, scalable, and cost-effective architectures to support a variety of Data Products.

Key responsibilities of your role.

As a Solution Architect, you will analyze the entire data value chain and define the ideal architecture, along with the necessary technology components, to fulfill requirements. This role spans both the Platform and Products, ensuring the Platform evolves with a capability-driven approach to support Data Product delivery effectively.

In this role, you will oversee multiple aspect including:

Comprehensive Architecture Design :

• Design robust, scalable, and cost-effective end-to-end architectures for data products.

Architecture & Technology selection:

• Drive the platform architecture with a capability-led framework.
• Lead technology selection, evaluation, and recommendations.
• Accountable for aligning architecture and technology components with functional and non-functional requirements.

Guidelines and Best Practices:

• Establish architecture guidelines and best practices.
• Produce reusable architecture patterns that can scale.
• Monitor and enforce adoption across product and platform delivery teams.

Enablement and Architectural Runway:

• Anticipate enablement needs of Product teams, including innovation and technology tracking.
• Contribute to defining the architectural roadmap for the data platform.

Mentorship:

• Provide guidance and mentor junior team members to elevate their capabilities and expertise.

In-Life Management:

• Ensure consistent design and architecture across delivery teams.

Application Ownership:

• Act as an application owner, align technology roadmap with product delivery teams.
• Monitor and optimize costs associated with the application landscape.

Implementation, including PoCs/PoVs

• Stay hands-on to maintain your technical proficiency.
• Explore emerging technologies and continuously learn in a fast-changing technical landscape.

Requirements.

We think you'll be best geared for success if you can meet the following requirements:

• University Degree in Computer Sciences or any other discipline of technical orientation.
• Minimum of 6–8 years of experience in a related field.
• Proven expertise in Data Platform Architecture or IT Solution Architecture roles.
• Experience with Azure services: Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, Networking (VNet/SNet, NAT Gateways, Private DNS Zones, Private/Service endpoints, etc.), Synapse, OpenAI / AI Foundry, CosmosDB, SQL Databases, Event Grid / Event Hubs
• Extensive experience in development and architecture for Azure Databricks
• Familiarity with Unity Catalog concepts.
• Expertise in CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Strong proficiency in Python (preferred).
• Previous experience working in a scaled agile environment
