We started out in 2015 as ING's software development hub, then steadily expanded our range to include more services and competencies. Now we provide borderless services with bank-wide capabilities and 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐣-𝐍𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐚.

ING has thousands of engineers across the globe. The purpose of Retail & Banking Technology (R&BT) is to make their lives easier and to get to a level of interoperability that makes reuse of components the standard. R&BT realizes this in Customer Data & Fulfilment and Channels & Journey Orchestration tribes. This allows for innovative business solutions to be developed at a global scale by use of the global solutions and services we offer.

R&BT also provides global Data and Analytics platforms for data consumers and data producers. These can be data scientists or BI business users and also (data) engineers or product managers. We facilitate the access to data in a secure and compliant way, making the life of our data scientist and (business) users better. On top of we belief that data and analytics should be brought to the hands of all decision makers and customer propositions creators, while we believe it's data and analytics that will make the difference towards our customers and stakeholders. Developing solutions within the platform enabling this will be part of your future responsibility.

Your role

The Solution Architect strengthens the design and implementation quality of IT Systems, optimizing technology infrastructure, operational efficiency, scalability, reliability and security, ensuring seamless alignment between design and implementation and business and enterprise architecture. As a Solution Architect you translate requirements into functional architecture and solution design that will cross domains and multiple applications. Focusing on building out analytical solution architectures and designing efficient dataflow architectures to process and transform data at scale. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams from wholesale, retail and COO to create integration architectures ensuing smooth connectivity and data delivery to downstream business solutions. Key Competencies

• You are Tech Savvy and have intrinsic curiosity in technologies, frameworks and platforms.
• You can assist delivery of solution architectures and explain these to engineers.
• You maintain relevant architectural artifacts, including application architectures, data models and other relevant documentation
• You support the delivery of target architectures and identify constraints and issues. Escalate to senior architects when needed.
• You identify potential reuse in your designs and ensure the developed solution will be exposed for future potential reuse
• You are up-to-date with the latest technology trends, frameworks, patterns, concepts and languages
• You work with guidance (but not constant supervision) to develop, monitor, interpret and understand policies and procedures and make sure they align with objectives

Key Technical Skills

• You have proven experience in a few of the popular programming languages: Java, Python, C#, Scala, Kotlin etc.
• You have expertise in enterprise integration patterns and modern API development technologies, including REST, gRPC, and API gateways
• You have knowledge of at least one type of SQL and NoSQL database: Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redis, Cassandra, etc.
• You have an understanding of and reliability, performance and scalability patterns
• You understand the principles of (cyber) security, data privacy and ethics.
• You have experience with containerization and orchestration of deploying containerized applications
• Experience on the Google Cloud Platform is a plus, not a must.

Key non-Technical Skills

• You are able to collaborate, guide and convince engineers to ensure understanding, support and commitment.
• You have a strong customer and platform consumer focus, understand their needs and take these into account in your designs
• You can work under loose supervision, eager to learn from more senior colleagues.
• You are curious keep up to date with latest trends in IT in general and specifically within ING
• You have strong analytical skills and a clear way of translating abstract concepts into implementable solutions

• You are not afraid of thinking out-of-the box and challenging given status quo

• Foreign languages:
  English (advanced)

• Education
  : Education at Bachelor/Master level with a strong analytical background, in Computer Science, Cybernetics, Software Engineering, Financial Engineering or equivalent
