Overview

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to design and implement automated migration processes across our infrastructure. The role focuses on:

Automating LXC

  • KVM migration within a Proxmox VE cluster with minimal downtime and full data integrity.
  • Developing internal tooling to automate the transfer of hosting packages (files, databases, DNS, mail, SSL, etc.) between environments.

Responsibilities

Design and build an automated LXC

  • KVM migration pipeline using Proxmox APIs, CLI tools (qm, pct, pvesh), and scripting (Bash, Python, or Go).
  • Automate migration of configurations, disks, networks, and snapshots with post-migration validation.
  • Develop tools for web hosting package transfers, database and mail sync, DNS/SSL updates, and filesystem replication.
  • Integrate migration workflows into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar).
  • Implement logging, rollback, and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with SysOps and Development teams and document all procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience with Proxmox VE (LXC and KVM).
  • Strong scripting in Bash and one of Python or Go.
  • Deep understanding of Linux virtualization, cloud-init, and storage backends (ZFS, Ceph, LVM).
  • Experience with Ansible, Terraform, or similar automation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of DNS, web hosting stacks (Apache/Nginx, MySQL, Postfix/Dovecot), and networking.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, REST APIs, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
  • Focus on reliability, repeatability, and rollback safety.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with multi-node Proxmox clusters and HA setups.
  • Knowledge of ZFS replication, Ceph, or backup frameworks (Borg, Restic).
  • Exposure to Debian-based hosting environments and large-scale data migrations.
  • Familiarity with monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki).
  • Awareness of ISO 27001-aligned operational practices.
