Job Description
The
Technical Business Systems Analyst
will work from our offices while collaborating with the Global MassMutual teams in US and India. As a
Technical Business Systems Analyst
, you will bridge Operations and Technical groups to design and implement data strategies for the underwriting process. Your role involves gathering business insights, building data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and enabling analytics to optimize risk assessment. Strong communication skills are critical for frequent stakeholder interactions. The person who will join this role will report to a local manager based in Bucharest or Cluj.

Primary Focus Areas

• Data Strategy: Shape underwriting data strategy, focusing on governance, architecture, and integration.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with operations stakeholders to gather insights, define requirements, and translate them into technical specifications.
• Data Engineering: Develop and maintain data pipelines using approved tools and integrate data sources for underwriting analytics.
• Data Quality: Implement validation processes to ensure compliant, high-quality data.
• Technical Documentation: Create data models, flow diagrams, and documentation using tools like LucidChart, Confluence and ensure proper dissemination and approval from Data Architect.
• Collaboration: Work with the delivery stream in agile teams to deploy scalable solutions.
• Reporting: Support the Build of dashboards (e.g., Tableau) for real-time underwriting insights.
• Optimization: Identify and resolve data bottlenecks to enhance efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a liaison between business stakeholders' team, and the technical delivery streams in underwriting.
• Elicit, translate and simplify requirements, decompose high-level business and user requirements into well-written User Stories.
• Active participation in grooming sessions with developers (including those offshore).
• Document and organize acceptance criteria for user stories.
• Analyze and validate business systems data.
• Document technical requirements and business/ technical process flows.
• Active participation and provide support during QA testing and End to end testing with SDETs and Program teams.
• Participate in all phases of the development life cycle including requirements gathering and analysis, design, build, test, implementation and continuous service.
• Guide Development teams when needed Work with technical leads, product lead to plan, develop technical scopes of work and manage the execution of projects/product changes in response to requirements from our stakeholders.
• Work with product and project manager(s) to define improvements to business processes, assist decision-makers in gathering information to make decisions, and help quality assurance test solutions.
• Work with the Data Architect, Solution Architect and Product Lead to assist in prioritization and determining business value.
• Be self-supportive in collaborating with peers to effectively deliver a robust solution for the business.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, or business-related field.
• 3+ years as a Business Analyst or a similar role, with 1-2 years in data engineering.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Exceptional communication skills for frequent business interactions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in underwriting, new business or risk management data strategies.
• Strong quantitative orientation, analytical skills, and seasoned judgment as well as a high level of intellectual curiosity and tolerance for navigating ambiguity.
• Ability to manage own priorities and adapt quickly to changes.
• Desire to learn and ability to apply learnings to business issues.
• Self-starter with proven ability to organize and direct quality work efforts.
