Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced
Grid Connection Manager
to lead grid integration efforts for utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar PV, wind, and BESS) in Romania. This role is critical to ensuring timely and compliant grid connections, working closely with regulatory bodies, technical teams, and external stakeholders. The position reports to the Country Manager and is part of a dynamic, international, and multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

Grid Connection Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and execute grid connection strategies aligned with Romanian and EU regulations.
  • Assess grid capacity and feasibility for new project sites in collaboration with development teams.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with transmission and distribution operators, regulatory authorities, and contractors.
  • Represent the company in negotiations and technical discussions with grid operators.

Permitting and Compliance

  • Manage grid connection applications and ensure all technical and legal requirements are met.
  • Stay current with Romanian grid codes and regulatory changes.

Technical Coordination

  • Oversee grid connection designs at 110, 220, and 400kV levels, including substations and transmission infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams and consultants to finalize designs and technical studies.
  • Support commissioning and liaise with network operators during implementation.

Project Development Analysis

  • Lead technical assessments during development to ensure grid compatibility and optimize connection strategies.
  • Identify and mitigate grid-related risks during feasibility and design phases.

Project Delivery

  • Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to align grid connection activities with project timelines.
  • Draft and negotiate technical and commercial agreements.
  • Supervise contractors and resolve technical issues during grid infrastructure build-out.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Provide regular updates to senior management on progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to process improvements and best practices in grid connection management.

Experience and Skills

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in grid connection or power systems engineering, ideally within the renewable energy sector or with a grid operator.
  • Strong understanding of Romanian grid codes and permitting processes.
  • Experience with high-voltage infrastructure and renewable technologies.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management and technical negotiations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and project management software.
  • Fluent in Romanian and English, with excellent communication skills.
  • Self-driven and proactive with strong organizational abilities.
