Your Impact

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to develop and support complex software that runs OpenText's Core Messaging platform.  This platform handles real-time, time-sensitive communications and integrates with telecom and IP infrastructure. Reliability, scalability, and performance are critical.

As a Lead Software Developer, you will:

• Design, develop and support scalable and resilient software capable of handling real-time, time-sensitive communications.
• Overcome technical challenges of sending high volume fax, voice, email, SMS, RCS and WhatsApp communications.
• Application of complex software engineering concepts such as queuing and graph theory.
• Ensure disaster recovery readiness and high availability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional geographically dispersed teams including engineering, operations, product management, and security.
• Assisting in task management and Agile planning, managing individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
• Being proactive - willing to work on any problem, and willing to find solutions when they fall outside your area of direct expertise
• Mentoring junior team members with regards to code design, testing and standards.
• Keeping a level head in a pressured environment

What it takes to Succeed:

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership / architecture role.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• C/C++ application development on Solaris SPARC/x86 & Redhat Linux
• Knowledge of MySQL and embedded MySQL
• Knowledge of ONC RPC
• Excellent reverse engineering skills.
• Knowledge of Perl is an asset.
• Knowledge of high-volume delivery systems.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across technical and business teams.
