Being a Product Owner

As a Product Owner at Tobii, you will work to maximize our product value by managing the backlog, defining priorities, and representing customer needs. You will work with peers on the customer side to understand their needs and align with product vision and objectives and contractual obligations, and you will be the customer voice in front of engineering teams.  

This isn't just another Product Owner role — it's your chance to define it. This is a rare opportunity to build the PO role from the ground up in a fast-moving, high-impact environment. Your leadership will directly influence how we scale our product development and deliver value to global OEMs.

You'll be instrumental in aligning cross-functional teams and steering product strategy to execution, in the core of our portfolio planning process.

You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering development teams, Scrum teams, and Project Managers to align development with business goals. You act as business owner for the product development team, ensure proper DoD (Definition of Done) for our work packages by correlating our strategy with market intel and regulation. Together with our Product Managers, you are part of the Product Management team for Autosense Business Unit.

Here's what your days will contain:

• Manage and prioritize the product backlog, based on value, feasibility, and impact.
• Develop and maintain a product roadmap that guides short- and long-term development, together with Product Managers.
• Together with Product Managers, engage with OEMs, partners, and internal stakeholders to gather feedback and requirements.
• Translate insights into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with the team during sprint planning and reviews.
• Act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clarity.
• Partner with System, SW, and ML Architects to define/refine the requirements of the product, validate feasibility and extract effort estimates.
• Make real-time decisions to unblock teams, clarify scope, and adjust priorities.
• Review deliverables and ensure they meet quality compliance standards and user expectations, vs the DoD (Definition of Done).
• Establish and evolve the Product Owner role within Tobii Autosense — defining processes, tools, and best practices.
• Mentor team members and contribute to a culture of product excellence.
• Advocate for product thinking across the organization.

To succeed in this role, we would love you to have:

• 3+ years as a Product Owner or in a similar product leadership role, ideally within tech, automotive, or embedded systems.
• Experience from establishing and scaling product ownership practices in a growing or transforming organization.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineering, UX, data science, and business stakeholders.
• Background in agile methodologies and product development lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of engineering processes
• Ability to translate product strategy into actionable roadmaps, and drive execution.
• Experience with customer-centric product development, including gathering insights, prioritizing features, and validating solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to balance technical feasibility with business impact.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in complex environments.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)

It's a plus if you have:

• Familiarity with automotive industry standards, OEM collaboration, or safety-critical systems is a strong plus.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
• Certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe PO/PM are beneficial.
