Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Dispatcher to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating transportation activities, ensuring timely delivery of freight, and maintaining effective communication with drivers and clients. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in various transportation management systems.

Duties

  • Utilize GIS and GPS technology to optimize routing and ensure efficient transportation planning.
  • Manage dispatching operations, including scheduling shipments and monitoring fleet movements.
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to facilitate smooth logistics operations.
  • Perform data entry tasks accurately within transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
  • Handle shipping and receiving processes, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain effective communication with drivers via multi-line phone systems, providing clear instructions and updates.
  • Analyze transportation data to identify trends and improve operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure seamless freight management.
  • Exhibit strong phone etiquette while addressing inquiries from clients and drivers.

Experience

  • Proven experience in dispatching or a related logistics role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems, including AS400, is advantageous.
  • Strong typing skills and proficiency in data entry are essential for maintaining accurate records.
  • Knowledge of fleet management practices and shipping & receiving procedures is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with internal teams and external partners.
