Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join one of our teams, to maintain and enhance our client's hybrid infrastructure environment. You will be responsible for managing enterprise-grade Windows Server systems with Hyper-V clustering, Storage Spaces Direct, and SQL Server Always On, while integrating modern Azure cloud services. This role requires high autonomy, overseeing multiple Hetzner datacenters and Azure tenants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize multi-node Hyper-V clusters with Storage Spaces Direct (NVMe/HDD tiers) and failover clustering across multiple datacenters.
  • Manage SQL Server Always On availability groups, clustering, and mirroring over dedicated high-performance networks.
  • Automate infrastructure operations using PowerShell, Ansible, and Bicep templates for Azure resources.
  • Monitor and respond to infrastructure alerts using Grafana/Prometheus/Loki and Azure Application Insights.
  • Implement VLAN segmentation, network QoS policies, and BitLocker encryption for all critical systems.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications via Docker, integrating with CI/CD pipelines from Azure DevOps to on-premises.
  • Execute live migrations, cluster maintenance, and zero-downtime procedures while maintaining SLA compliance.
  • Plan and execute capacity management, storage scaling, and multi-datacenter backup strategies with automated replication.
  • Ensure ISO 27001 compliance, perform security event analysis, and maintain comprehensive infrastructure documentation.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience managing Hyper-V clusters, SQL Server Always On, and enterprise Windows Server environments.
  • Deep expertise in Windows Server clustering, Storage Spaces Direct architecture, SMB multichannel, and PowerShell automation.
  • Strong knowledge of failover clustering (CSV, fault domains, quorum), tiered Storage Spaces Direct, and high-availability architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure services (Azure DevOps, Monitor, Active Directory), and Infrastructure as Code (Bicep/ARM).
  • Enterprise networking expertise: VLANs, QoS, SSL certificate management, and security monitoring.
  • Proven experience with SQL Server clustering, Always On availability groups, database mirroring, and backup/recovery strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage mission-critical infrastructure with 99.9%+ uptime.
  • Ability to work autonomously in complex environments, manage critical incidents, and communicate effectively in English.
