The American International School of Bucharest seeks a passionate kindergarten Teacher (5-6 year old students) to inspire our students. In the Early Learning Centre, we create a meaningful and positive first experience of school-based learning for our students and families. The Early Childhood Team is responsible for the care and development of our youngest learners in a purpose built, state of the art learning environment. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSEducation & Certification
- A relevant early childhood degree
- Current teaching certificate
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a teacher in an Early Childhood setting
- Experience with the IB PYP and/or Reggio Emilia-Inspired Approach(preferred)
- Successful experience teaching early years students, aged 2-6 years old, within an international school setting
- Understanding of Science of Reading and relevant programmes such as UFLI and Heggerty

- Provide Tier 1 (MTSS) classroom strategies and practices to remove barriers to learning and enhance access for all students.
- Collaborate closely and/or team teach with a variety of colleagues: teaching assistant, EAL teacher, Early Intervention teacher.
- Implement systems and routines that support effective transitions and maximize learning time.
- Implement the SEL curriculum and integrate restorative practices to build empathy, regulation, trust, and a positive community.
- Support students' overall well-being through ongoing reflection, monitoring of social, academic, and behavioral needs, and fostering self-awareness and resilience.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-organized classroom environment that promotes inquiry, curiosity, collaboration, and risk-taking; ensure resources are accessible, effectively managed, and support student agency and independence.
- Develop a classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes and understand that this is essential for learning
- Facilitate inquiry-based learning through a transdisciplinary approach, guiding students to investigate and make connections
- Monitor, assess and document student learning and growth in all areas of development.
- Maintain open and proactive communication with parents through informal updates, conferences, written reports, and digital platforms to share progress and next steps in learning.
- Contribute to school improvement initiatives and participate in ongoing professional learning to enhance instructional practices and understanding of the PYP.
- Participate in school events, supervision duties, field trips, parent-teacher meetings etc. to strengthen community engagement
- and student experience.
- Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Principal.
