MetaWealth is expanding its Energy Infrastructure team as it scales a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) platform across Romania and Europe.
We are part of a wider group with €1.5bn+ of projects under development, backed by an experienced international team. Our BESS platform includes ~260 MWh under development, a ~650 MWh active pipeline, and a clear roadmap towards 1 GWh+.
To support delivery, we are hiring a BESS Construction Manager to take ownership of the on-site execution of our BESS projects.
The Role
This is a site-facing delivery role acting as MetaWealth's on-site representative during construction and commissioning. You will lead day-to-day execution, oversee EPC contractors and suppliers, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to specification.
You will work closely with the Director of Energy Infrastructure and the BESS Design & Engineering Manager, taking the lead during construction while coordinating closely on technical and commissioning matters.
This is a full-time, based out of our Bucharest office with regular travel to project locations.
Key Responsibilities
● Act as primary on-site owner's representative for utility-scale BESS projects.
● Manage and oversee EPC contractors, enforcing scope, schedule, safety, and quality obligations.
● Directly manage subcontractors where required.
● Develop and control construction schedules, budgets, and site safety plans, in coordination with the EPC.
● Lead weekly site meetings, safety walks, and progress reviews.
● Supervise and coordinate civil, electrical, mechanical, and ancillary works.
● Ensure strict compliance with design documentation, quality standards, and permit conditions.
● Manage material delivery, site logistics, and inventory control.
● Lead the commissioning phase, coordinating EPCs, engineering, equipment vendors, and the grid operator.
● Ensure full project close-out, including as-builts, test reports, and handover documentation.
What We're Looking For
Degree:
Bachelor's or Master's in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
Experience:
3–5 years in construction or site management, ideally on utility-scale energy projects (BESS, solar, substations).
Strong understanding of EPC delivery models and contractor management.
Familiarity with Romanian construction and permitting processes is a plus.
Technical Requirements
● Solid knowledge of construction means and methods across civil, electrical, and mechanical scopes.
● Experience with industrial equipment installation, including safety considerations (battery handling, fire protection systems).
● Ability to read, interpret, and challenge technical drawings and specifications.
● Project Management certifications are an advantage.
