What will you contribute?
The Enterprise Monitoring and Observability Team is committed to maintaining system stability and efficiency through advanced technology and skilled professionals. Our Monitoring Engineers ensure the smooth operation of our observability tool infrastructure and proactively address any related system performance issues.
As the Manager of this team, you will oversee a group of Monitoring Engineers, ensuring the effective implementation and maintenance of monitoring tools. Your responsibilities will include daily team management, stakeholder management across Finastra for Monitoring and Observability adoption, requirements gathering, and defining deliverable KPIs. Additionally, you will manage supplier relationships, work with third-party vendors, budget costs, attend service reviews, and drive tool consolidation across Finastra to deliver exceptional monitoring and observability services to all business units.
Responsibilities & Deliverables
Your deliverables will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the Monitoring and Observability team, including setting objectives, providing feedback, mentoring and professional development opportunities for all team members.
- Ensure the team is providing high-quality customer service and technical support, within the agreed SLAs.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain operational policies and procedures and ensure that all team members adhere to them.
- Lead initiatives to automate workflows and processes through scripting and coding
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the team
- Manage third party vendors in all aspects from budgets to service provision and new requirements
- Act as an ambassador for Monitoring and Observability best practise, design and advocate best practice across Finastra.
Required Experience
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop technical teams effectively
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on driving results and continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
- Analytical abilities, attention to detail, stability, responsibility as well as customer focus
- Strong familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
- Expertise in scripting and coding, particularly in Python.
- Experience with DevOps tools and monitoring solutions (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk).
- Ability to work independently as well as part of an internal customer facing team
- Excellent Knowledge of reporting methodology, PowerBI and/or advanced excel.
- Expertise in managing third party providers in all aspects from operational to budgetary
