We are looking for a BigQuery Developer to join a strategic data migration project within Deutsche Bank. The team is responsible for migrating data from on-premise systems to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a strong focus on data modeling and performance optimization in BigQuery.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the migration of large-scale datasets from Oracle to BigQuery
  • Redesign and adapt data models to match BigQuery architecture and querying patterns
  • Optimize SQL queries for performance and cost efficiency
  • Implement and maintain table partitioning and clustering strategies
  • Apply best practices around time travel, data versioning, and dataset organization in BigQuery
  • Collaborate with global teams across data engineering, software development, and infrastructure
  • Support documentation of data models, architecture, and migration logic

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with BigQuery in real-world projects
  • Strong SQL skills (including window functions, CTEs, nested queries)
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (preferably Oracle)
  • Practical knowledge of partitioning, clustering, time travel, and versioning in BigQuery
  • Previous involvement in data migration or reengineering initiatives
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a distributed, international team
  • Advanced English communication skills (written and spoken)

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with GCP services (Cloud Storage, IAM, Dataflow, Pub/Sub)
  • Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt, etc.)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD for data workflows
  • Background in large-scale enterprise or banking projects
