Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a
Senior Data Engineer (GCP)
for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Europe.
Our client is a broker platform that offers brokers real-time risk. You'll join the team focused on building scalable, production-grade data pipelines and infrastructure to support machine learning and analytical workloads. You'll work closely with actuaries, data scientists, and platform engineers to unlock the full potential of data within a growing and regulated insurance environment.

The duration of the engagement is
3 months
,
with the possibility of extension.
Please note:
this is a full-time role (8 hours per day), so it requires full commitment and can't be combined with another full-time job.

This is an urgent role, notice period could be 2 weeks max
Tech Stack

  • Languages: Python, SQL, Bash;
  • Cloud: GCP;
  • Monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, Tableau;
  • Search/Analytics: Elasticsearch, Kibana;
  • Version Control & CI/CD: GitHub, Dekster.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Python and SQL.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing data pipelines and data models.
  • Understanding of data lakes, cloud storage, and distributed data systems.
  • Understanding of shell scripting (e.g., Bash) and infrastructure provisioning (GCP).
  • Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and version control systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Proficient with project/workflow tools such as Jira.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a distributed, asynchronous team setup.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice to have

  • Experience with streaming data systems and MLOps pipelines.
  • Experience with financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex, scalable data pipelines to feed ML models and operational systems.
  • Develop and manage data models, data lakes, and data governance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with actuaries, data scientists, and engineers to integrate new data sources.
  • Build infrastructure and tooling to support DataOps and MLOps practices.
  • Lead efforts to optimize the performance and reliability of the data infrastructure.
  • Serve as a domain expert for core data technologies and mentor other engineers.
