The Automation Engineer role involves working with engineering and operations teams to improve machinery and process systems, leading to increased productivity and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include identifying and correcting electrical failures or automation equipment programs, project managing the build of automation panels, training plant technicians and operators, and participating in technology upgrade projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and correct electrical failures or automation equipment programs
  • Project and build automation panels
  • Train plant technicians and operators in using the equipment and systems
  • Participate in technology upgrade projects/installation of new production systems
  • Own the programming definition, testing, and execution for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) such as Programmable Logic Controller (PLCs) and Human-to-Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
  • Provide technical direction to vendors and engineering firms throughout all phases of the project
  • Input to project scope, cost, schedule, and resourcing

Your Skills:

  • Strong technical skills and experience in power, controls, information systems, and/or automation projects
  • Ability to think outside the box and handle dynamic work environments
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems, including PLCs and HMIs
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Rockwell, and Siemens PLCs
