HSE Manager

Announcement taken from the platform George Butunoiu Executive Search: Recruiting an HSE Manager The Client is a multi-site multinational industrial producer with complex production, storage and distribution operations, running under mild SEVESO regulations. The new HSE Manager will lead health, safety, emergency situations and environment across all company sites (National coverage), keeping the workplace accident-free, environmentally responsible and fully compliant with legal and group standards. The role is office based in the West of Bucharest, with up to 6 remote days per month. You will report locally to the General Manager and functionally to the European HQ.

Key responsibilities
• Identify hazards and run risk assessments across production, storage and handling of hazardous substances
• Develop and update the prevention and protection plan and the action plan for serious and imminent danger
• Organize, coordinate and monitor OHS activities in line with current legislation
• Prepare and maintain all OHS, fire protection (PSI) and emergency documentation, including fire intervention plans, hot work permits and the annual fire protection assessment
• Define safety signage needs, choosing the right types and placement
• Define PPE requirements together with operations and production
• Develop and run HSE training and emergency preparedness programs
• Lead emergency response and evacuation, and conduct initial incident investigations
• Ensure environmental compliance: Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), internal audits, permits and authorizations, waste management
• Run the OHS Committee and act as main contact for labour and emergency inspectors (ITM, ISU)
• Report to authorities and to group HQ What we are looking for:
• University degree, preferably technical or engineering
• 180-hour OHS postgraduate course or a Master’s/PhD in OHS, plus PSI technical attributions (both mandatory)
• 10+ years of experience, including at least 5 years as HSE Manager / Lead in industrial production
• Hands-on experience with process safety, hazardous substances and ideally SEVESO sites
• Solid knowledge of Romanian OHS, emergency situations and environmental legislation
• Advanced English, written and spoken
• Good MS Office skills
• Driving license and availability to travel to plants and to HQ abroad
• A practical, solution-oriented professional, able to work under time pressure and to communicate with all departments Please note: this role is for production environments. Profiles with HSE experience mainly in construction or project sites will not be a fit for this mandate. The Offer:
