Identity & Biometric Solutions (IBS Business Line), part of DIS GBU, has the mission to protect individual identities and citizens' rights with secure, ethical, sustainable, and user-centric solutions.
In the context of IBS, there are several projects ongoing to be delivered to our customers and we are looking for a Software Work Package Manager to contribute to the successful delivery of our projects, a key role in our organization.
A typical week in the role of a Software Work Package Manager:
- You will assign and schedule the engineering activities to meet the solution milestone.
- You will collaborate closely with the Project Design Authority (PDA) and Integration Verification Validation and Qualification Manager (IVVQM).
- You will challenge the proposed Design to better fit the project constraints, if necessary.
- You will ensure that the projects are delivered on time and within workload by coordinating the sub-system level execution.
- You will coordinate the lower sub-systems engineering teams to ensure compatibility and integrability of the solution.
- You will identify, monitor and report the technical risks and related action plans.
- You will be reporting to the Project Manager (PM) or Solution Engineering Manager (SEM) on schedule, progress, risks and workload.
- You will be responsible for identifying and formalizing the work package requirements and scope with the appropriate support needed from the technical team.
- You will be responsible for the work package requirements integrity and consistency throughout the project execution.
- You will manage the sub-contractor and procurement technical assessment.
- You collaborate with the customer on the technical aspects of the project execution.
- You collaborate with the IVVQM to ensure verification and integration of the solution.
- You will be structuring and mastering the delivery process, coordinating the teams, keeping right balance between time, costs and quality.
Bidding responsibilities
To be able in very limited time to:
- understand architecture and technology limitations on high level
- understand the requested scope
- be able to put together estimates, risks and assumptions based on engineering team inputs (both SW and HW) – sometimes really low level
- be able to challenge the estimates
- build a schedule
- project management on assigned scope within project
- be able to deliver what is requested on time, quality and budget
- daily engineering teams follow-ups
About The Role We Are Looking For
As Technical Project Manager, you will take the role
of Software Work Package Manager (SW WPM)
. You will manage and monitor the whole engineering activities of the solution. You will define the system development plan as well as the process, practice and tools based on the project constraints in order to guarantee the quality of the engineering solution delivered to the Customer.
The SW WPM manages and coordinates internal multi-disciplined teams, which may include internal and external parties, performing a work package, and works with the Bid Manager / Project Manager and the Functional Manager for all aspects relating to his/her work package. Leads all work package activities (including those related to risks & opportunities) to reach objectives of the bid/project, regarding its technical, schedule, and financial aspects.
The SW WPM is responsible to deliver his/her/their work package on time and at the agreed cost and quality.
The SW WPM is accountable to the Project Manager to meet the commitments and deliverables of his/her/their work package and to contribute to the achievement of the project objectives and customer satisfaction, this in accordance with the entity's policy.
The SW WPM contributes to the development and validation of the RACI, identifies associated internal and external dependencies and ensures these are monitored in coordination with the relevant provider.
Technical Skills
Required:
- Technical background for at least 5 years (as software developer or quality engineer)
- At least a first experience of 2 years in a technical management position
- Facilitation skills to handle workshops with stakeholders to clarify requirements and scope
- Knowledge of configuration and change management tools (e.g. JIRA)
- Active contribution to communities (e.g. Project Management communities) and implement best practices
- In charge of centralizing the identification, monitoring and mitigation of the technical risks.
- Experience in facing and mitigating risk, anticipating issues and creating opportunities.
Nice to have (considered a big plus):
- Project Management certifications (PMI, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
- Knowledge of products, security, standards requirements.
