Who we are

We are seeking a skilled Business Intelligence Developer with strong expertise in Power BI for data visualization, report migration, and dashboard development. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience migrating BI applications, particularly from QlikSense to Power BI, along with proficiency in SQL and data engineering practices. This full-time role, starting January 2025 and extending at least through the end of the year, involves supporting a key migration project for our Automotive client, Mercedes-Benz. You will work on maintaining and transitioning dashboards that optimize logistics for vehicle parts and components, ensuring efficient factory placements. Collaboration will be in an Agile environment using Jira and Confluence, with close integration into the client's team at Alexander Thamm, including regular meetings, reviews, and planning sessions. The project utilizes Azure Cloud for data storage and processing.

What you'll be doing

• Lead the migration of existing QlikSense applications to Power BI, ensuring seamless transition of dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI to support decision-making in logistics and supply chain for automotive components
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, and integration from Azure-based storage and databases
• Collaborate with business stakeholders at Mercedes-Benz and the Alex Thamm team to understand requirements, gather feedback, and deliver actionable insights
• Build and maintain data pipelines to ensure data quality, availability, and reliability during and after the migration
• Contribute to data modeling, ETL processes, and workflow orchestration to enhance BI efficiency
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and daily stand-ups, using Jira for task management and Confluence for documentation.
• Continuously improve BI processes, tools, and infrastructure to support scalable, high-performance solutions in a cloud environment

What you'll bring along

• University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Visualization, or Data Engineering roles
• Strong proficiency in Power BI for development, dashboard creation, and report generation (mandatory)
• Solid knowledge of SQL for querying, data manipulation, and integration
• Hands-on experience with data engineering tools and technologies, such as ETL processes, Python, and pipeline development
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into business insights
• Proactive, self-taught approach to learning new technologies and adapting to project needs

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Experience with QlikSense or QlikView (bonus, to facilitate understanding and migration of existing apps)
• Familiarity with Azure Cloud Platform for data storage and processing
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., BigQuery, Hadoop, Spark) or orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow)
• Background in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
• Exposure to machine learning, statistical modeling, or automotive/logistics industry
• Prior experience in enterprise migrations or client-facing projects
