Job Introduction

The Frequentis Group is an international supplier of communication and information systems for control centres with safety-critical tasks. These 'Control Centre Solutions' are developed and distributed by Frequentis in the business segments Air Traffic Management (civil and military air traffic control, aeronautical information management, air defence) and Public Safety & Transport (police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical services, vessel traffic and railways). With headquarters in Vienna, the company employs more than 2300 people worldwide, with subsidiaries, regional offices and representatives in over 50 countries.

In Cluj we started in 2009 and our local team currently has 200+ colleagues and is growing.

You will work on a microservices based framework used across the company to run and integrate multiple Frequentis products. You will develop reusable services, software packages and libraries to be used by other teams in the company. The product runs on RedHat 7/8, handles the deployment and configuration of the OS and supports the configuration and orchestration of services packaged as Docker images.

We are developing for a safety critical environment, following industry standards, where high availability and redundancy is a basic requirement.

Key Tasks

  • Take part of the daily work of the scrum team consisting of DevOPS/Support Engineers.
  • Automate the deployment and configuration of our products (Red Hat Kickstart, Puppet, Ansible)
  • Support the continuous system level integration of our platform and products and identify and test relevant failure modes, resp. help identify mitigations to reduce the effects of such failure modes on regular operation of our systems
  • Work closely with other development teams in migrating and running their software on the platform: workshops, training sessions and active support
  • Support our clients and the internal development team in the deployment and upgrade procedures of our platform
  • All tasks will be done keeping in mind that we are operating in a safety critical domain
  • Troubleshoot problems in the MosaiX platform environment toward the root cause and resolution

Key Qualifications

  • Linux (RHEL) deployment and administration
  • IP networking know-how
  • Experience in configuration management and deployment tools (Puppet, Ansible)
  • Docker and its ecosystem
  • Experience in running large high available server based systems, operational experience of micro-services systems is an advantage
  • Experience with continuous delivery pipelines and build tools (Jenkins, Maven)
  • Experience with network and application monitoring tools (Prometheus/Grafana/Zabbix) and logging (ELK stack)
  • Experience with RHEL HA (pacemaker, corosync)
  • Scripting experience (bash, Python, Go is a plus) and a mindset to treat infrastructure as code
  • Strong focus on IT and network security, experience in an Integrated Identity Management solution is a plus (Red Hat IPA)
  • Good English skills (both written and spoken)
  • Experienced with working in an Agile team
