Role description:

In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to deliver high-quality, generic, and robust solutions efficiently.You will play a pivotal role in the evolution of our client's platforms, including the design and implementation of new projects, API development, and system integrations. By incorporating AI and modern best practices, you will enhance development workflows, improve decision-making, and contribute to scalable, reusable, and secure coding standards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and QA, to drive innovation and deliver industry-leading interfaces.

Responsibilities:

• Driving Innovation: Leveraging AI tools and technologies to streamline development workflows, enhance productivity, and optimise technical decision-making.
• Problem-Solving Expertise: Rapidly identifying and implementing robust technical solutions that align with business goals.
• Platform Leadership: Taking a primary role in the ongoing development and improvement of cutting-edge web comparison systems.
• Standards & Processes: Ensuring all software meets business requirements, adheres to industry best practices and complies with internal standards and processes.
• Requirements Gathering: Identifying technical requirements, creating actionable plans for new products and providing accurate estimations for development timelines.
• Documentation: Leading the creation of detailed functional and technical documentation to ensure clarity and consistency.
• Code Reviews: Reviewing and providing constructive feedback on the code, testing procedures and documentation of peers.
• Mentorship: Guiding junior developers and leading technical projects with a focus on skill development and knowledge sharing.
• Collaboration: Working closely with project owners, business stakeholders, and QA teams to ensure cohesive development efforts across local and global teams.
• Continuous Improvement: Contributing to the refinement of internal standards and staying up to date with advancements in PHP, Laravel, and AI technologies.

Profile : 

• Familiarity with AI-powered tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) to enhance development efficiency.
• 2-5 years experience of open source web development technologies including PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS and using these with high traffic, high volume websites.
• Experience working with an open source PHP framework, preferably Laravel.
• Understanding of API design principles, including RESTful standards and secure API implementation.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on creating scalable and generic solutions.
• Security best practices for web application development.
• Agile methodologies and tools like Jira.
• Proven experience with modern testing frameworks and methodologies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.

Experience in some of the following would be beneficial:

• Database Optimisation: Proficiency in optimising database performance, including query optimisation, indexing strategies, and schema design.
• Unit Testing: Familiarity with writing and maintaining unit tests to ensure code reliability and facilitate robust development practices.
• AWS Infrastructure: Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, including services such as EC2, ECS, S3, RDS and Cloudfront.
• Microservices Architecture: Knowledge of designing, developing, and maintaining microservices for scalable and modular applications.
• WordPress: Experience in integrating or customising WordPress alongside Laravel to address specific business needs.
• Artificial Intelligence: Experience with advanced AI and machine learning integrations for PHP and Laravel.
• Front-end: A good working knowledge of frameworks like or React.
• DevOps: Experienced in using DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and containerisation (e.g., Docker).
