Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Originator in Bucharest, Romania to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our PPA Originator, you will lead the development of commercial strategies for renewable energy sales in Romania. You will secure long-term PPAs, manage negotiations with corporate buyers and utilities, and contribute to Scatec's growth in the Romanian market by leveraging your expertise, knowledge and contacts in energy markets.
Main responsibilities
- Origination & Negotiation: Lead origination of PPAs with corporate clients, utilities, and brokers. Negotiate term sheets, exclusivity agreements, and long-form PPAs, including Guarantees of Origin (GoOs).
- Commercial Strategy: Develop and implement offtake strategies aligned with Scatec's merchant market exposure and risk-return objectives. Support CfD auctions and route-to-market agreements.
- Analysis & Structuring: Conduct PPA pricing analysis and financial modelling. Assess hedging strategies and portfolio optimisation.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor Romanian power market trends, regulatory changes, and cross-border PPA opportunities.
- Internal Collaboration: Work closely with Business Development, Legal, Finance, and Project teams to ensure bankability and compliance.
- Representation: Represent Scatec at industry events, forums, and stakeholder meetings. Domestic travel required; occasional international travel.
Qualifications and competencies
- Education: University degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: 7+ years in energy markets, trading, or PPA origination (renewables preferred). Proven track record in structuring and negotiating PPAs.
- Skills: Strong analytical and financial modelling skills. Deep understanding of Romanian and European power markets and regulatory frameworks. Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Language: Fluent in English and native in Romanian.
