Flutter UK & Ireland are the UKI region of Flutter Entertainment. They unite a dozen brands, including powerhouses Paddy Power, Betfair, Tombola and Sky Betting & Gaming, bringing together hundreds of teams and thousands of colleagues, who create trusted entertainment for millions of customers every week.

Role Overview

The UKI Infrastructure and Platform team provides core services to our product and technology teams, enabling them to be independent in delivery and execution.

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of our Platform Engineering teams, which is working on an exciting implementation of our Container Platform in the Public Cloud .

Our Platform Engineering teams shape the Container Strategy across the FlutterUKI, from onboarding onto strategic infrastructure to providing a central container platform to our Super Tribes. Focusing on automation, infrastructure-as-code, and real-time data, we use the right tech to get the job done.

You will collaborate closely with product engineers, infrastructure peers, solution architects, agile delivery leads, owners and product managers to ensure we provide high-quality solutions that allow our consumers to move faster.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading a team of platform engineers to deliver an optimised AWS-Managed container platform on UKI Infrastructure & Platforms.
• Managing the performance of your team members, ensuring they understand the expectations of their role, supporting the personal development of your team members to grow them in their role, and enhance their skills
• Managing the delivery of strategic projects and developer experience features, working with our Agile Delivery Lead, through agile methodologies and ceremonies.
• Engaging with key stakeholders and consumers to ensure we deliver what's important to Flutter UKI

• Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams, ideally within Infrastructure, platform, or cloud domains
• Demonstrated experience driving complex cloud initiatives from design to delivery
• Strong people leadership background - skilled in building, motivating and developing high-performing teams
• A leader of people and a mentor to engineers within your squad, you should be on point for advice and guidance. You should be a team player who works collaboratively to achieve the goals of the squad.
• Work with your peer Engineering Managers to ensure resourcing, priority and delivery commitments are aligned

Key accountabilities & Responsibilities:

• Take on day-to-day management duties for the Platform Engineers within your team, including regular 1-2-1s, coaching and mentoring, enabling career development and supporting the Head of Platform Engineering in shaping the roadmap and driving strategic initiatives, while holding operational accountability for the entire container ecosystem and ensuring the on-call rotation consistently aligns with business requirements
• Accountable for delivering consumer-focused initiatives on the product roadmap, influencing the solution. 
• Ensure that delivery plan commitments are achieved​
• Engage with stakeholders to communicate the roadmap, delivery and generate feedback
• Liaise with other teams within the business to communicate and coordinate work and dependencies.​
• Take ownership for code quality, security & scalability.​
• Use data to inform decision-making around the delivery approach, and hold their team and themselves accountable for delivery towards the team's goals​.​
