Role Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated Engineering Manager to lead, inspire, and motivate a multidisciplinary software development team within Flutter Brazil. In this role, you will combine hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership, driving delivery excellence and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. You'll be central in growing your team, managing stakeholder relationships, and supporting product lifecycle initiatives that deliver real business impact.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

People Leadership & Team Growth

• Lead, mentor, and motivate a cross-functional engineering team, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration.
• Appraise performance, conduct 1:1s, and support career development plans for your team members.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, and continuous growth of your team.
• Promote accountability, trust, and engagement across the squad.

Delivery & Technical Leadership

• Take ownership of your team's delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes aligned with business priorities.
• Actively engage in technical challenges, from prototyping solutions to unblocking critical issues.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes using Scrum methodology, ensuring efficiency, quality, and measurable outcomes.
• Actively measure productivity, efficiency, and delivery impact, taking corrective actions where necessary.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Serve as a key liaison between the delivery team and stakeholders (internal and external).
• Partner with other Engineering Managers to align initiatives, manage dependencies, and proactively mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and change initiators throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring alignment on vision and execution.

Strategic & Hands-On Leadership

• Lead by example with strong engineering principles, balancing people leadership with technical credibility.
• Roll up your sleeves when necessary to code, prototype solutions, or dive deep into critical issues.
• Shape architectural decisions and mentor engineers, while also driving innovation and scalability.
• Support strategic challenges such as sportsbook scaling, site search performance, and user experience consistency.

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required

• Proven track record of leading and managing multidisciplinary teams delivering complex software projects.
• Strong technical background with hands-on engineering mindset.
• Expertise in distributed, redundant, and transactional systems.
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum) and delivering measurable improvements in efficiency and quality.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to support and grow people's careers, fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture.
• Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for identifying risks and resolving technical constraints.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills in English, Portuguese is highly beneficial
• Proven experience with Incident Management and defect tracking systems.
• Knowledge of backend languages (with openness to learn Golang).
• Familiarity with Kafka, Kubernetes (with Argo CD), and AWS Cloud.

Nice to have: Golang experience, frameworks written in Golang.

Key challenges: Delivering scalability in sportsbook, enhancing integrations, and improving site search performance to create a more consistent and fluid user experience.
