Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Solution Architect to join the Wealth & Insurance delivery teams, with a focus on Core technology platforms and their integration within a wider enterprise estate. This individual will lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and sustainable technology solutions that align with business requirements, technical standards, and architectural roadmaps.

The Solution Architect will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, business owners, delivery teams, and third-party vendors. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing complex architectures across both on-premise and cloud environments (particularly AWS), driving technical leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and lead solution designs across delivery teams with a focus on midrange technologies

• Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements to deployment and production support

• Review and validate third-party vendor proposals and implementations to ensure alignment with architectural principles

• Collaborate with enterprise architecture and security teams to ensure technical compliance and governance

• Recommend technologies, applications, and frameworks that support agile, sustainable development

• Support data governance efforts across on-prem and cloud environments

• Document and maintain architecture artifacts and support estimation for planning

• Foster strong relationships with business and technical stakeholders

• Champion technical excellence and best practices across design, development, and delivery

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Technical Engineering, or equivalent

• AWS Associate Solution Architect certification (Professional level in progress or a plus)

Required Experience

• Minimum 8 years of technical experience

• At least 5 years in technical implementation delivery

• Minimum 1 year in solution or technical architecture roles

• Experience working with midrange systems, ideally Life400 on the iSeries platform

• Previous experience as a team lead or in people management is an advantage

• Proven ability to handle complex architectures involving infrastructure and OS changes

Must-Have Technical Skills

• Systems Architecture and Application Design

• Proficiency in Java, Python, or C#

• Data Architecture, Storage & ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) expertise

• Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD methodologies

• Networking fundamentals

• Security foundations

• Ability to design and demonstrate proof-of-concept solutions

Must-Have Soft Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

• Able to manage changing priorities and deadlines

• Skilled at explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences

• Experience working with third-party implementation partners

Should-Have Technical Skills

• Cloud-specific patterns and technologies (especially AWS services)

• Infrastructure automation and configuration management

• Knowledge of automated build and deploy pipelines
