Principal Electrical Design Engineer

Role description:

This role is part of Arcadis' Global Excellence Centre (GEC) and will join our 3,000+ talented individuals working in India, Romania, and Philippines, in partnership with Arcadis' offices globally. The GEC brings key capabilities and capacity to support our clients seamlessly around the world. The MEPF Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) in the GECs is comprised of cross-functional teams, that contribute to the development of innovative MEPF solutions that optimize energy efficiency, sustainability, and occupant comfort. Our ability to effectively manage projects, assess client needs, and provide technical guidance is crucial in delivering successful outcomes, using the most innovative way of doing computational design. 

 

Your role will include, but is not limited to:

• Design low voltage electrical systems, including general and emergency lighting, power distribution, grounding, lightning protection, fire alarm, intrusion detection, and CCTV systems.
• Develop 3D models of complete electrical installations using Autodesk Revit MEP.
• Plan, organize, and deliver projects efficiently by managing budgets, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and overseeing junior engineers or technicians.
• Estimate project budgets, resource needs, and schedules for the full electrical scope.
• Prepare detailed engineering documentation, such as equipment specifications, technical reports, and presentations.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and design verification procedures.
• Engage in design and client meetings to capture project requirements and obtain clarifications from internal teams as necessary.
• Ensure all electrical designs meet safety, environmental, sustainability, and energy efficiency regulations, in accordance with relevant industry standards and best practices.
• Apply national and international standards to electrical design, while also incorporating client specifications and project-specific requirements.

Qualifications

Mandatory:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or Building Services.
• Skilled in using design software including AutoCAD and calculation tools such as ETAP, with the ability to perform engineering calculations in Excel.
• Intermediate English skills.
• Enthusiastic about learning new skills and capabilities.
• Extensive knowledge of norms and standards related to low voltage electrical design.
• In-depth understanding of energy and sustainability regulations and industry best practices.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design.
• Demonstrates strong problem-solving, creativity, proactivity, and analytical thinking.
• Exhibits excellent planning, organizational, and communication abilities, essential for success in this role.
• Experienced in applying quality assurance procedures to deliver high-standard design outputs.
• Brings comprehensive leadership skills and a proven track record in managing large-scale projects.
• Possesses outstanding verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with clients, architects, project managers, and stakeholders throughout the design process.
• Shows a clear commitment to continuous personal and professional development in a dynamic and challenging environment.
• Maintains a strong focus on technical excellence and quality.
• Demonstrates enthusiasm for mentoring and supporting the development of junior engineers.

Nice to have:

• Master's degree in electrical engineering.
• Experienced in medium voltage (MV) electrical design.
• Background in Building Management System (BMS) design.
• Proficient in specialized electrical engineering software, such as: Revit, ETAP, EPLAN, Amtech, and Intelec.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
• Holds ANRE IIA certification.
• Certified as a Security Systems Designer.
