Blue Projects, a leading consulting firm specializing in Engineering and Project Management solutions, is seeking a skilled and experienced Cost Engineer to join our dynamic team in Bucharest. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong ethical background, experienced in cost control, budgeting and quantity surveying within industrial or commercial construction projects.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cost management or quantity surveying within industrial or commercial construction projects
  • University degree, preferably in Civil Engineering and/or Building Services
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with MS Projects or similar project management tools
  • Strong communication and negotiations skills, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Solid understanding of cost control principles, budgeting techniques, and financial reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of local market conditions, both in terms of materials and suppliers
  • Familiarity with contract administration, procurement processes and project delivery frameworks
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for business
  • Fluency in Romanian and English

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage project cost plans, budgets and forecasts in alignment with project objects and contractual requirements
  • Monitor project costs, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions
  • Conduct cash flow analysis and ensure budget adherence
  • Compile and update daily, weekly, and monthly project reports
  • Attend project meetings and liaise with Clients as needed
  • Prepare Project Closing Reports and draft necessary documentation
  • Provide financial data and insights to Clients and internal teams
  • Maintain and update internal platforms daily
  • Coordinate cost-related meetings and appointments
  • Maintain project documentation, including contracts, permits, and correspondence
  • Support procurement activities, such as obtaining quotes and managing vendor relationships
  • Collaborate with procurement, engineering and project management teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and alignment with procurement strategies
  • Evaluate contractor and supplier claims, variations and change orders, ensuring financial compliance and value for money
  • Support risk management processes by identifying cost-related risks and contributing to mitigation strategies
