Who we are

You will be working on a product that enhances quality processes and IT systems for internal manufacturing within a major automotive client. This role involves developing software solutions that support production control systems for various components, including exterior parts and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFK). The focus is on continuous improvement and ensuring high production quality across multiple global locations. The product aims to evolve a fragmented application landscape into a unified, modular technical platform, leveraging cloud-based technologies and microservices architecture to adapt to future production needs and integrate new initiatives in electric mobility.

What you'll be doing

  • Collaborate with team members and customers in an agile environment to design, develop, and maintain backend services.
  • Focus on backend development, web services, containerization, and CI/CD practices.
  • Maintain and further develop legacy applications
  • Support migration efforts of applications (e.g., from Payara to modern platforms).
  • Design, implement, and integrate REST and SOAP web services for seamless communication between systems.
  • Develop and maintain microservices and event-driven architectures as part of a service-oriented architecture (SOA).
  • Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, and GitLab.
  • Utilize containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and ArgoCD.
  • Participate in the design and development of cloud-based solutions to ensure scalability and reliability.
  • Support the Operations team with development-related tasks and system integrations.
  • Explore and integrate new systems and equipment, including IoT platforms, to enhance data collection and analytics.
  • Ensure code quality through unit tests, code reviews, and proactive technical improvements.
  • Leverage monitoring, logging, and alerting tools to maintain system performance and availability.

What you'll bring along

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in backend development and web services.
  • Strong programming skills in Java (must have); knowledge of C++ and Python is a plus.
  • Experience with frameworks and servers such as Quarkus, Payara, Apache, JSP, Struts.
  • Proven expertise in developing and integrating REST and SOAP services.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD.
  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and repositories using Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab.
  • Familiarity with frontend and web technologies such as HTML, CSS, , JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Background in maintenance and modernization of legacy applications, including migrations (e.g., Payara to modern platforms).
  • Understanding of system integration and the ability to explore and connect new systems and equipment.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies and tools like Jira, Confluence, and Git.
  • Ability to write unit tests, perform code reviews, and manage deployment pipelines.
  • Strong communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Self-motivated, structured, and organized, with a strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently while seeking support when needed.
  • Proficiency in English and German is a mandatory.
