Role Description:
The Workflows Engineering team are recruiting Java Engineers to play a crucial role in our organisation. The successful candidates will become part of an engineering team addressing complex challenges and taking these to resolution. This provides an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy solving a variety of problems and who relish the chance to lead the resolution of exciting and new challenges on a regular basis.

The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to build and implement the technical strategy for a set of Engineering Products within our Post Trade group. They will ensure business requirements are applied and lean on their experience of software engineering and development lifecycles to lead change in exciting software challenges and customer solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates extensive knowledge of technologies and/or subjective matter expert knowledge of a technology, advising others on design, development and implementation
• Advances tools and applications by producing expert code and producing the right solutions needed
• Handles own workload and promotes an inclusive and open culture
• Is regarded as the point of contact in their domain by showing significant depth of knowledge and expertise in engineering and develops
• Understands how the technology / domain strategy relates to and impacts own work, supporting the implementation of strategy within all work. Contributes to strategy definition where appropriate
• Develops an understanding of the market and LSEG's commercial position in it
• Leads meaningful projects, working autonomously and with little direction; may ensure the delivery of work from other team members, delegating work when required
• Collaborates with architects to define and implement solutions
• Leads design work and planning for Epics breaking them down to stories with product owners and quality leads
• Adapts existing patterns to develop robust solutions
• Builds positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, growing own network and collaborating with other teams. Communicates challenging technical information clearly and concisely in an audience appropriate format
• Continues to develop technology and industry expertise through certifications, professional qualifications

Occasionally, overtime or weekend hours will be requested as communicated by the people leader.

Candidate Profile / Key Skills:
Nice to have:

• Professional qualification or equivalent
• Basic financial understanding of trading systems and financial markets.
• Experience or familiarity with financial messaging systems based on FIX

Must Have:

• Significant knowledge of at least one programming language (Java and C++ are the main requirements but others will be a bonus too)
• Ideally Experience in a minimum of 3 from - springboot REST and websocket services, Event-driven messaging (Kafka), SQL (Oracle/SQLServer), Redis, Azure - PaaS (EventHub, AzureSQL, Kubernetes, AzureCache, etc), terraform, helm, GitLab CI - or AWS equivalents.
• Some experience of Business and Technical Analysis, Quality Assurance, delivery management, and / or Emerging Technology and Governance.
• Significant experience in a Software development and delivery role
