Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Linux System Engineer located in Bucharest, Romania. The Linux System Engineer will be responsible for daily system administration tasks, managing and troubleshooting Linux systems, scripting for automation, and maintaining IT infrastructure. The role involves ensuring system efficiency, security, and availability, and collaborating with other IT professionals to develop and implement solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Linux servers (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, RHEL 7–9)
  • Install and configure services: Bind9, DHCP, Postfix/Dovecot, Nginx, Apache, FTP,
    GlusterFS, ElasticSearch, GrayLog, PostgreSQL, Redis
  • Monitor systems using CheckMK, Nagios, Wazuh, Grafana
  • Handle virtualization platforms: XCP-NG, ProxmoxVE, KVM, etc
  • Administer container platforms: Docker, Podman, Kubernetes (production-grade clusters)
  • Automate infrastructure tasks using Ansible and SALT Minion
  • Perform basic scripting and automation (Bash, Ansible)
  • Manage SSL certificates and internal Red Hat repositories (Foreman, YUM/RPM)
  • Implement and enforce security best practices to protect systems from vulnerabilities and threats
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to Linux systems and infrastructure
  • Participate in IT projects, contributing expertise and technical guidance
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and testing of new systems and upgrades
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

  • Experience with cyber security practices is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
