The
Data Scientist
will be responsible for driving value creation through advanced analytics and AI solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics, machine learning, and data visualization, with a proven ability to translate complex business problems into actionable insights.

Responsibilities:
Analysis and modeling

  • Translates business problems and questions into analysis objectives and choose the appropriate analysis methodology;
  • Analyzes complex information to discover trends and patterns of behavior;
  • Analyzes the results obtained and generates actionable conclusions and recommendations so as to answer business questions regardless of their complexity;
  • Presents the information using data visualization tools and translates it in an appropriate and relevant manner to the applicant;
  • Develops, uses, improves or provides support in the development of new prediction models and propensity algorithms using mathematical and statistical techniques and concepts in Machine Learning for the evaluation of customer and product portfolios; uses Python as a tool for implementing these models;
  • Knows, selects and implements the most appropriate Machine Learning algorithms (such as decision trees, linear regression, support vector machines (SVMs), neural networks, etc.) to solve certain business needs;
  • Trains the Machine Learning model using the prepared dataset by adjusting the parameters to obtain the desired results; subsequently, they evaluate the performance of the model using methods such as cross-validation, evaluation metrics (precision, accuracy, recall, etc.) and learning curves so as to ensure that the results obtained are calibrated to the business need they are trying to cover;
  • Prepares the data it has available for use in Machine Learning models through data cleansing, removing missing values, normalizing data, or various binary transformations.

Reporting

  • Performs requirements assessment, preparation of data necessary for reports/data analysis according to internal needs in various functional areas, including selection of information necessary to approach customers/prospects for different purposes;
  • Provides analyses, interpretations and conclusions regarding the evolution of the calculated indicators, correlates the information and data at its disposal, both present and historical in order to provide value-added recommendations for increasing performance and/or supporting various business directions;
  • Designs and executes performance monitoring reports and evaluation of activities within the distribution channels;
  • Develop and improve the reporting and monitoring process; efficiently automate, where possible, the extraction and processing of databases; carries out the same actions to improve the reporting processes both for the activities managed within the team and within other departments, providing support in terms of development, implementation and testing in order to increase the accuracy, efficiency and processing and handling time of the databases;
  • Provides internal stakeholders with complex, customizable and reusable reports through which requesters can preferentially adapt their queries;
  • Performs portfolio analyses and statistics on the historical evolution of some indicators used in assessing the value of the insurance portfolio, such as: average premium distributions, rates of attachment of additional clauses, etc..
  • Creates profiles of customer segments so as to support strategic initiatives with recommendations, positive criticism, insights and relevant information related to the evolution of the customer base;
  • Periodically monitors data quality; reports to the data quality officer any deviations observed in the source systems and comes up with solutions and recommendations for correcting, recurrent monitoring or preventing them;

Contribution to strategic initiatives

  • Provides support to data governance community in defining and updating glossaries of terms, data management documentation and other initiatives in the area of data governance;
  • Provides support in drafting the requirements for the development and implementation in analytical or reporting systems of the business terms necessary to cover the analysis, reporting and modeling needs serving various functional areas of the organization;
  • Tests new functionalities or changes brought to analytical systems by new developments in source systems generated by new business or legal requirements;
  • Provides support in formulating new requirements to analytical and reporting systems and ensures that these requirements can cover the business needs related to the above-mentioned responsibilities through the business attributes and deadlines developed;
  • It actively participates in various initiatives (local or under the management of the NN Group) and provides technical support at all stages of their implementation, ensuring that the solutions developed are efficient and aligned with internal standards and organizational objectives.

Performs any other task related to the natural flow of the activity and the mission of the position (applies to all levels of specialization).
Norms, Policies, Procedures:

  • knows and respects the provisions included in the internal work Norms, Policies, Procedures (including those referring to mechanisms and procedures for preventing and combating money laundering/terrorism financing (ML/TF) and international sanctions, in accordance with internal notifications received).
  • reports to the MLRO Officer at the general address: , all cases where clients/participants with anomalies are identified from the perspective of the policy for preventing and combating economic-financial crime and applying international sanctions.
  • participates annually in the training program regarding the activity of preventing and combating money laundering and financing acts of terrorism, by going through the training material and passing the related testing. Participates in all mandatory training programs, within the prescribed term, according to internal communications.

Experience & Background Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a proven track record of delivering complex AI solutions that have made an impact.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R for data analysis and machine learning.
  • Experience with Databricks of minimum 2 years.
  • Strong background in statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms, data modeling, and data visualization techniques.
  • University degree or Master's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific tools and technologies used in data analysis and modeling.
  • Strong command of the English language is required.
