About the Project

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support one of our clients in a strategic data platform migration project, transitioning from Azure Synapse Analytics to Databricks. The project aims to modernize the data infrastructure, improve scalability, and optimize performance by leveraging Databricks' unified analytics capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration of existing ETL pipelines and data models from Azure Synapse to Databricks.
  • Design and implement scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
  • Optimize data storage, compute performance, and cost efficiency during and after migration.
  • Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration within the client's Azure ecosystem.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and version control of data workflows.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and ensure data quality, reliability, and consistency across environments.
  • Document architecture, design decisions, and operational procedures.

Key Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering.
  • Strong expertise in Databricks (including PySpark and Delta Lake).
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and related Azure services.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT principles, data modeling, and data governance.
  • Strong SQL and Python programming skills.
  • Experience working in cloud-native and distributed data environments.
