Description & Requirements

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.

Our Quality Verification and Standards (QVS) team is an important part of our development process, delivering relevant insights that support our game teams to optimize software performance and enhance gameplay.

The Associate Quality Designer (AQD) will join us on the SONAR team in a hybrid work schedule consisting of 3 predefined onsite days weekly. SONAR is a centralized organization in EA focused on Production services. Our mission is to Safeguard the Player experience by delivering support across Live QV, Advertisement Technologies, and Retail Automation. As an AQD, you will be an important part of our development process and contribute to the quality of our games in a meaningful way. You will demonstrate a sound technical platform and game knowledge, have a quality-focused mindset and efficient partner management. The AQD will also be accountable for planning and managing test coverage on client and server releases, reporting on results, and confirming the success of a release. As an AQD you will be reporting directly to the Sonar Development Manager assigned to your specific Projects.

Who do we work with? You will work with Respawn Entertainment daily

Founded in 2010 by the original creators of the Call of Duty Franchise, Respawn was created with the philosophy that when accomplished people have creative freedom, they'll make extraordinary games that achieve the unexpected. From our roots as an indie studio to joining the roster of studios at Electronic Arts, this remains our guiding principle. We love what we do and want to share our passion with players worldwide. Our shipped titles include critically acclaimed multi-platform games Apex Legends, Titanfall, Titanfall 2, Star Wars TM Jedi: Fallen Order, and Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. Join us for the opportunity to create groundbreaking games with some of the best developer talent in the industry.

The Associate Quality Designer (AQD) drives continuous improvement in software and experiential quality within the Live team, identifying opportunities for enhancement and leading Departmental and Project-focused plans to address them. With an understanding of their team's workflows and collaboration points, the AQD promotes best practices such as feature owner engagement with Quality Verification (QV) involvement, bug severity assessment and EDA (Escape Defect Analysis) surfacing. They also assist the gathering of player feedback and sentiment analysis, working daily in tandem with PX and Feature Owners (FOs) and partners to refine and ensure a full optimization of designs based on player insights. Continued focus on the Live support of the game while in peak release.

A major part of this role is driving automation programs across retail and production testing environments that support Live QV. They collaborate with QV analysts, engineers, and feature teams to identify high-value test cases for automation, storefront, refine test execution, and improve coverage across platforms and configurations. The AQD contributes to both the development and the maintenance of automated test suites, monitors test health, and ensures results are applicable and can be integrated into reporting systems. By enhancing automation pipelines and supporting ongoing validation in live and pre-release environments (Stage), they help reduce manual overhead, accelerate feedback loops, and improve confidence in release quality.

Responsibilities:

Quality Strategy and Test Planning

  • Establish custom Live strategies on your project.
  • Work with product owners to identify risks and plan testing for live releases, and support this with automation
  • Build partnerships across geographically distributed teams.
  • Design automated test plans, including scheduling, reporting, and execution.

Quality And Automation

  • Compile data from multiple sources into cohesive summaries to communicate status and risk
  • Use different testing methodologies and analyze feature sets for automation opportunities (Risk-based Testing, Data/AI-driven testing, and more)
  • Use development tools to guide issue identification upstream and promote defect prevention.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Communicate status and risk through cohesive summaries
  • Be the communication bridge between development partners and QA teams
  • Provide technical, quantitative, and qualitative feedback
  • Represent the QA perspective in meetings, ensuring quality standards are prioritized.

Mentorship and Team Support

  • Lead improvements and knowledge sharing across teams
  • Promote professional growth within the QA team
  • Mentor and support team members in implementing quality strategies

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in software development, quality assurance, or game design
  • Familiarity with automated testing and common automation tool sets
  • Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Playwright, or proprietary game automation tools).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or C#) used to develop automated test cases.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automation platforms (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
  • Understanding of test result reporting systems and integration with dashboards or monitoring tools.
  • C# Or Python
  • Excellent collaboration
