About the Falcon Platform:
Falcon is the CrowdStrike platform purpose-built to stop breaches via a unified set of cloud-delivered technologies that prevent all types of attacks — including malware and much more.

About the Role:
We are growing and we are looking for a Sr. Software Engineering Manager to lead our Global Query Engine cloud team in Europe. You would be supporting highly skilled software engineers specialising in building a set of components that will enable partners to access and join data from multiple underlying stores. The technology is built in-house and powered by SQL and NoSQL databases, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kafka, Kubernetes and Go.
You need to have hands-on experience in building cloud solutions and a proven track record of successfully leading people and projects.
We are a remote-first company so you must bring your excellent verbal and written communication skills to bear when you are working with your engineering teams and cross-functional teams across the globe.

What You'll Do:
Lead and develop a team of software engineers, guiding them through successful and timely completion of technical product development projects.
Play a critical role in attracting, retaining, and fostering the professional growth of our software engineers.
Collaborate cross-functionally with peers across different organizations.
Contribute to building globally distributed, fault-tolerant, and highly scalable cloud-based systems capable of processing trillions of events daily.

What You'll Need:

• Engineering Leadership: A proven track record of building and managing strong core engineering teams, with 5+ years of hands-on management experience leading engineering teams.

• Software Development Lifecycle: 10+ years of comprehensive software engineering experience across all phases of the software development lifecycle.

• Technical Depth: Broad understanding of distributed systems development, including concepts and API development.

• Cloud Expertise: Solid grounding in the technology of at least one major cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Quality Focus: Solid design and problem-solving skills, with a clear passion for engineering excellence, quality, security, and performance.

• Team Management & Communication: Clear communication, proactive planning, and effective risk management to achieve team goals.

• Mentorship: Experience developing and mentoring engineers.

• Education: MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical work experience.

Bonus Points:

• Knowledge of query optimization techniques.

• Experience with complex GraphQL APIs.

• Knowledge of ETL processes to move and transform data between different data stores.

• Understanding of data security principles and best practices.

• Ability to monitor and optimize query performance across diverse data stores.
