Senior Software Developer

We are seeking an experienced Senior C++ Developer for our Subsurface Science & Engineering business unit. This unit specializes in software for natural resource exploration and production, as well as sustainability solutions such as CO2 capture.

This role involves supporting applications with advanced 3D graphics methods, interactive data manipulation, algorithms, and sophisticated UI. As a developer, you will focus on the scientific and computational aspects of the applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead customer project meetings to determine requirements and oversee project design, planning, integration, testing, and commissioning.
  • Provide network and system design, customizing configurations based on customer needs.
  • Perform hardware, software, and system installation, integration, and testing for projects.
  • Act as technical lead for sales support, including sales presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Offer advanced technical customer support and assistance under contract maintenance and warranty.
  • Develop training materials and project documentation.
  • Implement software and hardware according to specifications, using proprietary application platforms.
  • Develop typical functionalities, user interfaces, and configurations within Monarch and AspenTech applications.
  • Manage data for SQL, MySQL, Microsoft Access databases, and proprietary Aspentech-OSI systems.
  • Implement and adapt hardware, software, and networking solutions based on customer needs.
  • Participate in internal testing, client-site testing, and project start-ups.
  • Ensure changes and additions resulting from testing are implemented for software and hardware components.
  • Provide support and assistance under maintenance and warranty contracts.
  • Support sales departments and customers through presentation and demonstration activities.
  • Contribute to training material and project documentation creation.
  • Make necessary trips for project meetings, testing, and commissioning.
  • Adhere to established work methods, procedures, and means to identify areas for improvement.
  • Balance task difficulty with team member experience levels, guided by the Team Leader/Engineering Manager.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Geophysics, Geology, or Reservoir/Petroleum engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in a software development role focusing on C++.
  • Practical experience in Linux and Windows environments.
  • Fluent English language skills.
  • Autonomy, curiosity, and learning mindset.
  • Advantages: Good OOP knowledge/design patterns, Python/scripting experience, Oil & Gas/scientific field experience.
