ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The technical Documentation Analyst will be the primary document editor for Engineering Configuration Management releases. In this role you will edit, format and publish detailed technical documents, according to SES standards, from a variety of internal departments (RF, Maritime, etc.). You will also manage SharePoint site groups, permissions, vendor permissions and NDAs, and external users. This position may include technical writing, depending on business needs and applicant qualification. In your daily tasks, you will collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Service Delivery, NOC and Operations team members to develop required content, and changes to documentation.

 

You will be responsible for (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • The Technical Documentation Analyst will work independently, querying engineers when necessary for document clarity.
  • Responsible for technical editing, publishing, and distribution list management, in an engineering environment.
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of project technical documentation in SharePoint.
  • Own the Configuration Management (Documentation) Process for Engineering, managing updates and revisions to technical documentation, updating templates, managing distribution lists.
  • Track external CM access to the CM SharePoint Site and take any needed actions to protect SES data, often working with Legal and Internal Audit on Export Compliance. This includes Vendors, Field Engineering contractors and Space and Defense users.
  • Produce electronic documentation in Microsoft Word and SharePoint, as well as other web-based/digital formats.
  • Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content in conjunction with SES branding and styles.
  • Define and follow company and hardware/software industry documentation standards and requirements.
  • Maintaining the Engineering & Operations documentation team space in Azure DevOps.

 

YOUR PROFILE

 

Must Have:

  • Strong SME proficiency with common office productivity software (e.g., MS Word, Visio, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Strong background in Jira, Azure DevOps or a similar tool.
  • Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
  • Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • A proven ability to be decisive, resolve issues and deliver on commitments and deadlines.
  • Organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience creating hardware/software and testing documentation and related project documentation.
  • Experience developing and delivering end user training materials.
  • Four-year degree required in English and/or Communications with Computer Science, Electronics
  • Advanced working knowledge of English

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Power Automate is desirable.
  • Solid knowledge of EAR Export Control is desired. The successful candidate may be required to take relevant training depending on their assignment.
  • Experience with wikis and knowledge management is a plus.
  • Knowledge in developing and delivering trainings (Word and SharePoint) is considered an advantage.
