About the Role
The Cost Engineer is responsible for identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities throughout the product lifecycle. The role collaborates closely with R&D, Project Management, Purchasing, and Operations to optimize product costs, improve manufacturing processes, support target costing activities, and enhance overall competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyse BOM and create roadmap strategy for reducing cost, propose solutions and supports purchasing for assessing different suppliers;
• Analyse processes to improve overall VSM and reduce effort and investments;
• Interface between R&D and Stihl RP for topics concerning feasibility, manufacturability and process technologies regarding cost impact;
• Support Project Management team for evaluating new project data;
• Establish cross functional view and database for target costing approach within the product projects;
• Evaluating competitor products from the same segment to challenge internal cost reduction potential;
• Executes any other orders given by the hierarchical superior in the realization of the company's short-term strategies, within the limits of compliance with the legal basis and the requirements of the quality system. What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering;
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Project Management, Engineering or a similar position;
• Project Management skills;
• Presentation skills;
• Experience in Target costing methodologies;
• Lean, PFMEA, DFMEA, CAD software, Microsoft Package, MES, S/4 HANNA knowledge beneficial.
• Team player, results‑driven, flexible, and adaptable, embracing change;
• Good verbal and written communication skills;
• Advanced written and spoken English; German is a plus.
