From prototype to production Become part of Newkom Kommunikation Newkom Kommunikation is the largest IT and media agency in the Saarland region of Germany. More than 150 creative minds in Saarbrücken and Trier develop cross-media campaigns and advertising materials, from print to online, combining marketing know-how with smart IT solutions. With custom cloud and software solutions, we build seamless workflows and well-connected business processes. We are looking for a full-time developer to join our Saarbrücken team, working fully remotely from Romania, starting as soon as possible. What to expect With AI-assisted development, ideas and working prototypes come together very quickly here. We test them in a sandboxed development environment. Still, there is a good amount of work between a working prototype and an application that customers rely on every day. That’s where you come in. You take prototypes from the first idea to go-live and turn them into robust, maintainable and secure applications. Most of the time these are web applications built on a solid framework, or lean, cleanly written scripts. Occasionally, when a project calls for it, we also build native apps for macOS, iOS or Android. Your tasks
• You analyse prototypes from our sandboxed development environment and assess code quality, architecture and security.
• Together with the team, you decide which technology and type of implementation fits the project (usually a web application or script, occasionally a macOS, iOS or Android app) and rebuild the prototype accordingly.
• You replace makeshift solutions with proven patterns, for example in data modelling, permissions, validation and error handling.
• You ensure quality through tests, code reviews and clean version control.
• You connect external systems via APIs and take care of deployment, release and operations, in our cloud environment or, for the occasional app, through the relevant app stores.
• Together with our agile team, you develop standards and checklists for the path from prototype to production, and help colleagues use AI tools in a way that makes their code easier to take into production later. What you bring
• Several years of web development experience with at least one established web framework (e.g. Laravel, Symfony, Ruby on Rails or Django), and a good understanding of software architecture, data modelling and security
• Good German skills, spoken and written: our team, our clients and our day-to-day work are in German. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but you should be comfortable working in it.
• Willingness to learn our standard stack (PHP/Laravel, Vue) if you have mainly worked with another language so far
• Good knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS (e.g. with Vue, jQuery or other frontend frameworks)
• Experience with relational databases and clean database design
• Confident use of version control (e.g. Git) and structured teamwork
• Enjoyment in understanding other people’s code and improving it
• The ability to explain technical decisions clearly to non-developers
• A thoughtful approach to AI tools: you use them yourself and know where AI-generated code typically has weaknesses, e.g. security, error handling or maintainability Nice to have
• Experience in app development for macOS, iOS or Android (e.g. Swift, Kotlin), for the occasional native app project
• Experience with PHP, CakePHP and existing web projects
• Experience with shell/terminal, web server configuration and REST APIs
• Basics in automated testing, CI/CD and security (e.g. OWASP Top 10) You don’t tick every box? No problem: curiosity and a willingness to learn matter to us.

RON 7,000 to 11,000 net per month, depending on experience.
