What we are looking for

We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Manager to lead all financial operations for our Romanian entity. This role will be the cornerstone of our local financial strategy, ensuring full compliance with Romanian statutory, accounting, and fiscal regulations. You will oversee financial planning and reporting, manage payroll and statutory declarations, coordinate with local auditors and tax authorities, and partner closely with our global finance team to align processes and standards.

As the primary finance authority for the Romanian office, you will bring both strategic insight and operational excellence, balancing day-to-day accounting and payroll accuracy with longer-term business growth objectives. This position requires a solid understanding of Romanian GAAP, tax legislation, and employment regulations, as well as the ability to advise leadership on financial decisions impacting the Romanian entity.

What you'll do

• Lead all finance operations for the Romanian entity, including accounting, payroll, tax compliance, and statutory reporting in accordance with Romanian legislation and The Brief's global standards.
• Demonstrates full compliance knowledge of Romanian tax, accounting, and employment regulations, partnering closely with our accounting firm to ensure accurate and timely filing of VAT, corporate income tax, and social contribution returns.
• Manage monthly and annual financial closings, prepare statutory and management financial statements, and coordinate with external auditors and fiscal authorities
• Supervise payroll and employee benefits administration, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with Romanian labour and tax codes.
• Provide financial planning, forecasting, and analysis to support both local and global leadership in strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate with headquarters to implement internal controls, reporting standards, and automation initiatives that enhance financial efficiency.
• Oversee vendor payments and receivables, maintaining proper documentation and reconciliation of accounts according to Romanian accounting principles.
• Act as the primary liaison for financial institutions, auditors, and public authorities.
• Advise management on local fiscal implications, legislative changes, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects, ensuring that financial and payroll considerations are embedded in business operations.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
• CECCAR membership or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
• Minimum of eight years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least three years in a managerial or senior role within Romania.
• Strong knowledge of Romanian accounting standards (OMFP 1802/2014) and familiarity with IFRS reporting.
• In-depth understanding of Romanian fiscal, labour, and social contribution legislation.
• Hands-on experience with payroll management, including salary calculations, taxes, and social contributions.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Fluency in Romanian and English, both written and spoken.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and financial reporting tools such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to explain financial insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• Integrity, discretion, and a proactive mindset that ensures compliance and continuous improvement.
